The Arthur’s Seat Eagle
The best way to see the Mornington Peninsula – aboard the Arthur’s Seat Eagle
(Apart from boarding a Bunyip Tour of course,) we think we’ve found the best way to view the beaches and natural landscape of Melbourne’s Mornington Peninsula – by gliding above the trees on the Arthur’s Seat Eagle.
The Eagle is a state of the art gondola which allows you to be seated and comfortable as you take in panoramic views of the Mornington Peninsula. The Eagle glides up and down Arthur’s Seat which is the highest point on the peninsula. This means you can take in uninterrupted views of the surrounding bushland, seaside towns below, and the sweeping coastline of Port Phillip Bay.
The gondola is named after the Wedge-tailed Eagle, which is Australia’s largest bird of prey with a wingspan of up to 2.5 metres. These impressive birds can sometimes be seen circling high above Arthur’s Seat in search of prey, and are distinguishable by the wedge-shape of their tails (hence their name).
The Mornington Peninsula has become known as a seaside playground for Melbournians – not only are there great beaches for surfing and swimming, but there’s an excellent array of farms and wineries providing delicious local produce.
Our Ultimate Mornington Peninsula tour lets you discover the colourful bathing boxes in Dromana, and historic Portsea Pier and main street of Sorrento. You visit the London Bridge Lookout in the Mornington Peninsula National Park, and enjoy a tapas lunch and wine tasting at a local farmgate. The tour also includes strawberry picking in the summer months and, of course, a ride on the gondola.
